Everyone knows that we should exfoliate, but do we know why? The skin is constantly generating new skin cells at the lower layer (the dermis) and sending them to the surface (the epidermis). As the cells rise to the surface they gradually die and become filled with keratin. These keratinized skin cells are essential because they give our skin its protective quality. But they are constantly sloughing off to make way for younger cells. Exfoliation is sloughing off of the dead skin cells in the epidermis to show the bright new skin under it. Of course we always want to see new bright full skin, but over exfoliating can also be bad for your skin.
Though exfoliation is a key part of skin care do you know if you’re doing it enough, or with the right products? The best way to know how much exfoliation you need is to book a consultation with me and we can discuss the best regimen for your skin. I offer body scrubs, microdermabrasion, peels, facials, and of course awesome products for you to take home to use between visits.
My goal is always for my clients to look my best, and I am looking forward to seeing all of you!
